The Blues Brothers. SNL characters portrayed by Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi that recieved their own film that became an instant hit.
I absolutely LOVE this film. I mean, really. Giving a used prophylactic back to the guy who came to prison with it:? Just a bit extreme, but hilarious because the guy picks it up with a pen. And the way he says it! "One unsoiled prophylactic, one soiled" with the look on his face. It gets me every time.
All the things that go well for Jake and Elwood makes you really believe that they truly are on a mission from God to rescue the orphanage they were raised at. I love that they call the nun "The Penguin" and that when they call her that she hits them with a ruler, breaking it on them and they start swearing. At a nun! So much comedy is in this film that the first time I saw it, I couldn't breathe from laughter.
The car falls apart when they reach the tax office to pay the back taxes, after being persued by police officers, FBI, Illinois Nazis, and a crazed ex-fiancee.
The thought that went into this film into making all the small details happen and all the small jokes and happenings. You know these two were dedicated to their roles.
